Sound Design and Engineering

Course Description

Perfumes, colors and shapes trigger in us specific feelings and emotions. In the same way, sounds and lyrics, set together in a creative design to make a certain film dramatic and exciting, trigger in us specific feelings. This course is designed to provide participants with the fundamentals of sound design and engineering, as well as the theoretical background of the microphone technology. Participants will also be exposed to the studio sound signal flow as well as the sound identification and localization in different places and working stations. The trainees will also be introduced to the to sound mixing using the mixing console.

Course Objective

At the end of the course, participants should:
-• Understand the flow of the sound signal in the studio and in the broadcast
-• Be able to resolve the daily technical problems when they occur
-• Understand the basic rules of sound mixing and editing and be able to work in the sound studio
-• Learn the different techniques of sound recording

- D/A and A/D dialogue
- Cables and conductors
- Analogue and digital switches
- The external equipment

-• Working in a digital sound unit
- Introduction to AVID PRO TOOLS software, the tools and functions
- How to arrange sound files in Avid Pro tools
- Building and management of sittings
- Editing and mixing fundamentals using DAWS
- Working with PlugIns
- Basics of Automatic operating
- Basics of automatic communication
- Basics of mastering
-• Using the mixing consoles
- Practicing on mixing consoles
- Basics of routing
- Digital and analogue systems
